What are Image Files?

Pirate Box or Pirate Stick image files are a complete operating system and only available on IPFS. You may use a public IPFS gateway to download them through a normal internet connection. What are published here are the IPFS CIDs and their image download verification hashes (sha256).

You will need to combine a public gateway domain with the IPFS CID for the image you wish to download to form the download URL. The constructed URL will always be of the form: "https://gateway domain/", followed by one of the ipfs/CIDs listed below in bold type.

After downloading your image verify it's integrity. Please see step 2 in the Pirate Stick Quickstart Guide for information on how to verify downloaded image files.

All Pirate Box images are compressed binary files to be flashed onto micro SD cards for Raspberry Pi computers. When a new 'Box or 'Stick image is published, all previous patches for that Box or Stick are obsolete and if applied to the new image may corrupt it. The point of releasing a new image is to roll up any patches or bug fixes so that only the image download is required. It is a clean start.
